Thought I'd share a use for random chipboard pieces you know you aren't going to use. (these were out of a bucket of chipboard pieces i got at walmart eons ago) and an artist canvas

STEAMPUNK WALL ART for boy's room

Step one:
create your shape by adhering the chipboard pieces, along with brads, eyelets or whatever else you want to add.. (the colors really do not matter)

Step Two:
Paint your base coat(s). I used two coats of a dark gray acrylic paint.

Step 3:
Add detail using acrylic metallic paints. I only used two shades, but mixed them with brown and black to get alternate shades.

Step #4
Add other rivets and details with metallic puffy paints.

I finished it up by adding an acrylic clear coat to seal it off.

I also did several no longer working water guns we had from last summer that we'd gotten from dollar tree etc (they didn't last long, but now they are cute steampunk guns to be mounted in a shadow box and made into their own wall art)

I love it. Steampunk lets your creative side walk a bit on the wild side. Great use of card board and the metal treatment is believable. GOOD JOB!
