6. Stitching -- hand stitching on top and bottom of journaling. (I am so not a sewing girl!)
Journaling Reads: Ever since I was a baby, words have been my comfort, my consolation. When I would cry in the car, my mother had only to quote from my storybooks to pacify me. As a teen, I was a writer – a poet- molding my heartaches, my triumphs into words on a page. In college, I devoted myself to studying the words of others. I absorbed every consonant and vowel, applying the writers’ observations to my own life. This lifelong love affair with words is not just about my passion for reading – it’s my way of understanding others. My way of feeling love. Just as translating my thoughts to poetry was therapeutic as a teen, kind words from a friend when I’m feeling discouraged are the best pick-me-up. While hugs are nice, gifts are great, favors are appreciated, and one on one time is always unforgettable, nothing beats a heartfelt “it’s gonna be ok” or “you’re a bright girl, you’ll make it work” to give me newfound confidence in myself. Words of affirment are, for me, the most honest, most direct way for you to show me that you love me. So, any time you want to remind me, say it, write it, type it, sing it – Just Tell Me.
