This is the first page in an album done for the baby of a couple of friends. The couple met in America but have since moved to Japan and are raising their son there. Unfortunately, the family of the dad has not had the opportunity to meet the baby yet. They are a very close knit, and my DH and I are close friends to all of them. So, thankfully, I have a huge selection of photos of them... that I've taken over the years. Upon seeing this album (around New Years) my DH and I decided we should use it for this sort of purpose. The father is an especially huge fan of the whole Star Wars movie series and we aren't far behind either... if truth be told. So, with The Force being used as a metaphor for the Family's love, I made this album. The Dad seemed very happy to receive the book, but I didn't realize quite how much it meant to him until I tried to take photos of it outdoors (for posting here and even more importantly - to show a couple of the family members who didn't get the chance to see the completed work) and he was afraid for its safety. (Those are his fingers shown holding the page up by the corners.) I thought it was particularily amusing since I spent hours putting it together (not the most complicated piece - but it does take hours to go through as many photos as I had and narrow down my choices). The baby's full name was included to the right of the photo. The first letter "L" was left to illustrate the fact that I cut a negative space and put a blue under it to show off the letters for his name with my die cut machine.
