My best friend from childhood through middle age was killed in October 2004. Although she still lived in Louisiana and couldn't see each other often, we spoke EVERY day on the phone. She was the wind beneath my wings and never realized how much she helped me with life's problems, always thinking it was me who helped her, as she suffered from Bipolar disorder and had many difficulties in life. She said I was her touchstone, but I believe it was definitely a two-way street. I still miss her 6 years later.

I did this layout awhile ago and it is the only childhood photo I have of us together, with her mom too, who died when we were 17. This was taken in the French Quarter in 1968 or 69, in front of this precious store, The Lemon Tree. I have another photo of us in front of the same store celebrating our 30th birthdays over 20 years later. I need to scrap that one! Sorry this isn't straight, but I haven't had it scanned yet and I'm not good at taking photos of layouts!
