Description: This is for the August Color Challenge, the colors are Purple, Aqua/teal, Brown. the LO is about my 9 year olds 1st set of stitches. The jouraling reads....
Riley received his first set of stitches on Saturday, August 18th, 2007. He was running along side of the drainage ditch in our front yard when his foot slipped and he fell into the ditch gauging his shin on a large metal pipe that was sticking out from underneath the driveway.
He came in the house screaming, his Father and I knew right away he needed stitches, so off to the ER we went.
The Triage Nurse went over all his basic information about the injury then looked at Riley and said "by law I have to ask you if anybody at home hurts you?" Riley looked kind of dumbfounded and said "no". The Nuse realizing he was confused at the question said "does anybody at home HIT you?" "OH" Riley said "YEAH my BROTHER does!"
After x-rays (to make sure there was no metal in the wound) and some numbing shots Riley got 4 stitches. The Doctor was explaining to us that he would need a fresh "dressing" for the wound in 24 hours. When Riley heard this his eyes got huge! He grabbed side of the shorts he was wearing, looked at the Doctor and said "can't I just wear these?" We had to explain to him that a "dressing" was a bandage and he wouldn't be required to wear a DRESS while the stitches were in. Thanks for looking!

Oh man! I'm glad your son is alright! He doesn't look too upset (after the fact, anyway.) You did a beautiful job on the challenge. The stitching all over is perfect for the topic. I really love how the colors blended, and such a great milestone photo too. This is a keepsake for him to always remember his first set of stitches!
