Oceanside, New York
When I was born my mother was living with her parents at 169 Terrell Avenue in Oceanside, New York.
My father was in the military and serving in Korea.
He was wounded on June 8, 1953, ironically the same day that my mother gave birth to me.
One newspaper article even called me a “Purple Heart Baby”. Happily my father survived.
I cannot imagine the stress and anguish my mom must have felt during this difficult time.

While we were living in Europe, we didn’t have a home in the states, so grandma’s house was always “home base”.
Every so many years we would come back ‘home’ and this little house kept us warm and safe.
I have wonderful memories of being there.
