i'm sorry i've missed this one... the ladies before me gave good suggestions and since you're following Jen's, i'll have to skip the critique *for now* and see what you come up with later. ;) great job on the "simple" page though!
I love the title! The blue background paper is perfect. Beautiful snowflakes. I agree that it would be nice to know the year and location, but what kind of an album is this going in? If it's a "2006 in ---" album or something like that then it's not necessary. Everything is positioned so well, that *I* would be afraid of messing it up! ;) I like Jen's idea about writing it on something clear and just trying it. I think if it was me I would write it on the right bottom of the pic. (Right on the pic, and in blue.) I'm sure whatever you do will be beautiful!!!
Cindy, I love this!! The title and that great photo say so much! Great job on the photography, I love photos with storytelling backgrounds. The snowflakes are awesome, that subtle stitching and subtle pattern paper are bold but don't overpower the photo. The big photo corners, the big white title, and that lovely shade of blue - everything flows together beautifully. Ditto Heather, the photo and title sparks curiousity -- I wonder where it's snowing so much and what year? Though that could be a good thing, a great conversation starter! The only thing I would consider is try writing the date and location on something clear -- clear sticker transfer paper or a slice of transparency -- with a white Sharpie or fine Deco paint pen, then place it over the layout to see if it will work with it (I know you have lovely handwriting!!). If it doesn't work or it's not convenient please ignore me. It's a strong and lovely page with great flow and the above was just a suggestion for curious viewers like myself. One more thing -- I love how you incorporated pattern into a simple, gorgeous layout. Total genius, girl!
Great lo! I know what you mean about struggling with going simple, but I think you did a great job here. Love the way you did the title (big and small fonts) the photo corners and the different size snowflakes you used :)
Snow Much Work I've been working on strengthening my LO focal points AND simplifying. (I have a tendency to keep adding stuff for the sake of it.)
So... my question to the group: is this TOO simple? It's much plainer than I usually go.
Products used: Bazzill cardstock, Chatterbox patterned papers (Chalet). The snowflakes are die cut on an Ellison machine. I stitched them to the c/s circles, tho the stitching doesn't show up too well. Title is done with American Crafts stickers and MM rub-ons.
