I think this layout is fine. I got that those were trees right away but adding a few details probably won't make the image too busy. I love the yellow globes- they read as spiritual.
SHCG: Very nice, what a great way to memorialize persons you've lost. This really has a nice, vintage feel to it with the bug images. I love the trees that you're creating.
SHCG: this is a really beautiful page. I agree with the others about inking the trees, I didn't realize they were trees until I read your description. I say add more yellow too, great job :)
SHCG - Wow, Brian, love this page & how you found imagery that expresses your emotions beautifully while still conveying the feeling of loss. The pp trees, the leaves & the insects, they all come together so well. Great journaling. Wouldn't change a thing here.
SHCG: I have to say I have looked at this LO over several days, at a loss (no pun intended) on what to comment. I am awestruck. The trees are fabulous (they remind me of birch trees) and your leaves are so you. Your LO's always make me think, I like that. The journaling is great.
SHCG: This is a very clever take on loss. I agree with others who have said some brown inking would give the trees some more definition. As well as your consideration of a few more yellow leaves. I think the way that you did them (leaves) is cool!
SHCG: This really looks like a piece of art. I like how you've used the bugs in place of the missing photos. I think that outlining the tree bark pp in a darker brown ink would really help to seperate the seperate tree/branches from one another and defne them better. I also like how the journalng is spread across the page.
SHCG: Beautiful page! I love the bugs representing loved once -very cool! Love the way you did the trees-look like birch trees to me! I would just outline the tree trunks with brown to give them a bit more separation from the bg. Also I think you can add some more yellow leaves on the left tree, somewhere at the lower part.
SHCG: Interesting page. Bugs to remind one of lost loved ones. Bugs are all around us, going about their business. The thoughts of lost loved ones buzz through our minds and then we are back to business.
SHCG: Brian, I love your metaphorical take on loss given your lack of photos. Very cool how you made tree trunks from leaf pp, though I didn't realize at first glance that these were trees until I read your description. I can definitely see how more yellow leaves might remedy that, but also understand not wanting to make it too busy, so just a few more on a scraggly branch extending from the thin trunk on the left and a short branch between the fly and large butterfly. I'd also like to see the trunks inked in a darker brown to give them a little more lift from the bg. I think your lo is an "oddly beautiful" contribution.
This is my page about loss for my 30 years album. It was originally going to be of my two friends who passed away. Since I don't have a photo of either of them, I was going to just use images of insects. I then decided to include grandparents and great-grandparents who have died. I like the result. I'm still considering adding more yellow leaves to the trees to fill it out, but I don't want to make it too busy.
