I wanted James to experience the tide pools of Cannon Beach, so Dan graciously drove us there. In what would prove to be a repeated theme of this trip, we had to hike a good distance to reach Haystack Rock. Dan will never admit it, but he parked the SUV at the wrong end of the beach. After slogging through sand and shore, we finally reached the rock. It did not disappoint as we saw a wide variety of sea life.
On our long hike to the rock, i would spot bits and pieces of sand dollars, but never one in its entirety. Dave found one and gave it to me. I'm carefully holding it in this picture, and i included it in the layout. Funny thing is that after Dave found me this one, i found two more on the beach. Whole ones that i put in my camera bag for safekeeping. Guess what? When we got back to Dave and Linda's house, they had broken into tiny pieces, but i still had Dave's. That makes it even more special, and i'm glad it survived the trip back home to Texas.
