Wow Peg, this is amazing. What a story too, so sad that your grandfather passed at such a young age. I love all the rustic, elements, and the gorgeous color palette, so perfect for the photo and the times. Just stunning. I love it all. Well done.
Ahhh, Peggy, the queen of vintage did it again. What an absolutely amazing layout, perfectly balanced, adorable embellishments and the touch of burlap is just the right touch to it
Amazing layout! Well, sorry that I've been missing for several weeks in the forums and galleries and blogs but I've have had 6 or 7 kids to take care of each day for most of the summer, guests stay with us, lots of summer vacation mishaps (including sick kid among so many other yucky things) and now I am really behind on EVERYTHING. Hopefully life will slow down in September to catch up with all my online friends.
Wonderful vintage LO and story - each one of your carefully chosen embellishments helps tell your story - love your beautiful rosette, the burlap and the Canterbury vine spray. This is a must for my FAVE's!
This is incredible! And thanks for the idea of soaking and unwinding the bird nest. I have one that is just too bulky, even for me, to use on a layout and THIS look spectacular!
what a fabulous photo to have, and youve certainly done your grandparents proud with this beautiful LO! Love the texture of the sticks and burlap, and the punchwork and layers are awesome!
Absolutely stunning and outstanding lo!! Love all of the awesome textures; the punch work is superb, the burlap, twigs and flowers are fabulous!! The layering is a perfect frame for the wonderful photo!
These are my maternal grandparents with my mother and my Uncle Jack. This is one of the few pictures that I have of my grandfather and the only one of the two together. At the time this was taken (Summer of 1918), they were tenant farmers and would be for another ten years. In 1928, they had saved enough money to purchase a farm of their own in LeRoy, NY. Unfortunately, my grandfather contracted tuberculosis and died in 1930. I tell more of their story in my "Her Spirit Soars" layout.
This was made for the Manda-hosted Round Robin that is going on now at Swrilydoos. I got to follow Rae and was so inspired by her design that I pretty much kept to the original. Instead of the peek-a-boo lace, I chose to use burlap because the subjects of the photo were farmers. I was going to use two open frames like Rae did, but then I realized that one of them was perfect for that photo!!!! I think I got all of Manda’s twists: Monochrome, check. Non scrappy item: the sticks are actually a bird's nest from M's that I unwound and soaked to get the shape I needed. Handmade embellie: the leaves that I made with the MS air-dried clay. All papers are from deep in my Swirly vault, a bit of Prima Moulin Rouge, some TPC Studio Ancestral and some of my treasured GDC Studios Ella Blue. The K&Co frames are included in this month's kit. They were so perfect for this page that I just HAD to use a few of them before actually breaking out my entire August kit. Flowers and vines again from the vault. The burlap was given to me by Maggi when I visited her last year and who I can't wait to see again in just over 3 weeks!!!!!!! The butterfly image is courtesy of LisaG (who you may know as StarSailor).
