Bill was sitting on a low wall that went around a group of trees. A monkey was about 6' from Bill and for some reason, completely unprovoked, pulled his lips back showing his teeth in a very menacing manner. Then he ran towards Bill hissing with his mouth open to bite Bill. Bill hit him in the nose – it was the only way he could keep from getting bit! The monkey looked surprised and rubbed his nose and then backed off.

I asked one of the people who worked there if other people had been attacked by the monkeys and he said a few people had already been bitten this morning. In fact they have a first aid station because the monkeys bite! They told us that the monkeys will jump on people or climb up their clothes and go all the way to the head. They said if this happens, not to try to remove the monkeys because they would bite, just to get near a tree so they would jump off or if you had food, to throw it on the ground so the monkey would jump down to get it.

We saw monkeys jump on several people – this was turning out to be more frightening than it was fun.

We saw a monkey jump on a Japanese tourist and take his Coke. Then the monkey sat on the ground and actually drank some of it. Then he dropped the can and it spilled on the ground then the monkey licked it from the ground.
