Frankly, this LO took forever, but I feel like it was worth it. Each of the small squares/rectangles surrounding the large photo were hand cut AND inked on all 4 sides and adhered individually up against the sides of the photo.

This was created for the final week of Scraptathlon 4. We had to use a BH sketch that was provided, 10 pics (no more, no less), and either 4 pp's or 4 different embellishments. I went with the 4 pp's. This was a fun way to use the BG Oh Baby! Boy collection that wasn't for a baby LO. The first page of the journaling block actually “swings” to reveal the second page beneath it. Journaling Reads: * June 2004 * This year we went to Myrtle Beach, SC with my parents. We decided to take about 10 days and drive to Myrtle Beach by way of Atlanta, GA. Yes, that is a long way to get there, but Keith was able to get a few extra days off so we made arrangements to visit with my Uncle Dale and Aunt Debbie ***** who live in ******* (a suburb of Atlanta). My cousin, Carey and his wife, Sondra and their daughter Brianna were also living with them so it was a great opportunity to see some of my favorite relatives. We spent about 3 days in Grayson and had a lovely visit. The girls had wanted to see the ocean for a long time. Caitlyn had been to Virginia Beach once, but was too young at the time to remember the trip. Claire had never seen the ocean and neither had Garrett. Our condo wasn’t on the beach, but we did spend two full days at the beach. The days were very hot and sunny – perfect beach weather except that we all ended up terribly sunburned even though we used sunblock with 50+ spf. Garrett was the only one who didn’t get burned. That was kind of amazing. Playing in the sand was a ton of fun for Garrett. He and Granny played for hours digging and making sand castles. He wasn’t terribly fond of the water at 20 months old. He was a little frightened of the water and the waves. One day we found a sand shrimp which was pretty interesting. The girls LOVED the ocean and they loved playing in the waves. The second day we were at the beach they took body boards and had a ton of fun “riding the waves.” I tried the body boards a few times too and had fun on them until the last “ride” I took. The wave was huge and it catapulted me clear up to the beach with a big jolt. I skinned up my legs and nearly choked to death! As it turned out, I also ruptured a disk in my back on that now infamous ride. Fortunately, that was the only injury during the trip. Some people on the beach next to us found a baby shark in the water where we were playing. Tim and Keith told us it was a dead baby shark. About a week after we returned home, we found out that wasn’t true. Keith finally told us the shark was definitely ALIVE but they didn’t want us to freak out about it and be afraid to get in the water. No matter what, whenever I am in the ocean, the thought of sharks always manages to creep into my mind. This was a fun trip and the girls loved the beach and the ocean. We are all hoping to make another trip to the ocean again soon. (journaling by Laura, 11/15/2006)
