* Don't Blink (Turning 103 Today)

My grandmother was born on September 8, 1907. The oldest of 8 children and a farmer's daughter, she had very humble beginnings. Pearl fell in love with a young man whom her father did not approve of because he drove too fast! She survived the Great Depression while raising 5 children. A graduate of Sherwin Music School, she has taught piano lessons for over 70 years! In fact, she still has 5 students who refuse to leave her! After 60 years of marriage, she lost her beloved husband to cancer. She has outlived 5 of her siblings. Five years ago, she lost a daughter...my mother. Through all of the trials and tribulations in her life, her unshakable faith in God has remained steadfast. She's smart, funny and humble. I am her granddaughter and I have been blessed and inspired by this amazing woman! Happy Birthday, Grandma!

Journaling reads, "At 103 years old, you are an inspiration to so many of your friends and loving family. You are both God-loving and God-fearing. A teacher of piano and a lover of books. You cherish your family roots. With 2 hearing aids and 1 cane you inspire each of us everyday. You continue to lead your family on their jouney to be closer to Jesus. We are humbled and honored. 09/08/2010"
