This is for the October Heritage challenge, week 4 of the Sept sketch challenge, and the October color challenge. All the flowers are handmade. It is also for the DIY challenge to use Amarylis' tutorial on lily flowers.
I went back and tweaked this a bit, when I found the companion photo that went with the main photo. I also added the following journaling on the back:
Edna Boteler Weathersby was Todd Courtney's grandmother. She was born in 1915 and the youngest child of John and Amanda Boteler. She died in 2004. She had four sisters who lived to adulthood, but the two with whom she seemed the closest were Celeste and Ellene. Celeste never married, and continued to live at their parents' home for many years. The original homesite was across the drive from where we live now. Celeste was four years older than Edna, and was the closest in age to Edna. Ellene was the oldest of Edna's siblings, and 18 years older than Edna.
I think the photos here were taken in the early 1930's when Edna was still a teenager. That would have meant that Celeste was probably in her early 20's and Ellene was in her 30's. The love that existed between these sisters is clear from these amazing photos that were taken so long ago.
