This photo is one of several poses I took of my son Sam for his senior pictures in late summer 2009. He graduated in 2010. Even though we didn't enlarge and frame this one it is still one of my favorites. He has been playing guitar since he was about 13 or 14 (like his mama!) and I love to hear him play and sing. It still amazes me at the wide variety of music he listens to and plays.

Did a lot of distressing, inking and even a little dry brush painting around the edges of the base paper (a first for me). I also made the banner from scratch and stamped and embossed the letters, put eyelets in and inked around the edges. (Sam mentioned the "t" looks like an "f". It is a bit strange!) I strung the banner with one of Sam's discarded guitar strings. Got the idea of using those from Jrabs. Also framed his photo with one. Believe me, guitar strings are not easy to work with but I like the looks of them! I had to use some 3D adhesive foam squares on a few of the flags to get them to stay down. They kept wanting to flip up on me! :-)

Sam picked out the button I used by his photo. I had 4 to choose from and that was the one he liked best and I have to agree! I painted the wooden flourish with DecoArt Champagne Gold Dazzling Metallics paint and inked in a little with Tim Holtz Aged Mahogany distress ink pad using a Q-tip. The butterflies are actual pictures I printed from my Print Shop program and fussy cut them out. The little metal bird I painted with Tim Holtz silver metallic mixatives first, then Stream alcohol ink and then a little Slate over that. I didn't know where the little bird came from until after I posted this layout and my friend scraphouse told me it was Tim Holtz! Rubber stamped the music bar and Sam's name.
The little metal hummingbird on filigree is actually from an earring I made years ago but couldn't wear them because of the nickel in the post so I cut the post off and glued it to the layout! Also inked it with TH Stream alcohol ink.

The round border from Pink Paislee was stark white and I toned it down with a little Tim Holtz Vintage Photo distress ink pad using a Q-tip and alternated each hole with my Sugarloaf Whispers Strokes markers in matching color scheme. The little blue music paper was actually the backing to a pretty little note pad I had. I rounded and inked the edges to it.
