Coco’s life has come full circle. She was found dumped on the roadside, abandoned by her original owner at a very young age. My boyfriend (at the time) and I were down in Florida visiting his daughter when his ex-wife asked if we’d be interested in taking her home with us. I agreed to take her as I was wanting a dog to keep me company on the horse farm I worked at in Zionsville, IN. She was such an angel on the long drive back to Indiana. She kept me company while I worked at the horse farm. She loved to swim in the pond and was also an excellent mouser! I’ll never forget the time she chased the horses as I was letting them out and got kicked in the mouth by one of them. Luckily it wasn’t severe but since it was a mouth cut it bleed like crazy. I was so frightened it was serious that when I realized it was just a split lip, I was overwhelmed with emotion! Coco stayed with me even after I left the horse farm and the boyfriend of three years.
Shortly after, I started dating David, my dear hubby. Coco got along with other dogs but always wanted to be the dominate female. She intimidated David’s dog, Baroness, so I really couldn’t keep her when I moved in. I asked my parents if they wouldn’t mind keeping Coco since she was such a good dog and loved my dad so much. They agreed and I was so relieved and happy! A few years later, my parent retired down to Florida and hence Coco’s life has come full circle. She’s happy back down in Florida as she’s always been a sun worshipper. I’m sure the warmer temps are easier on her old bones now too! Coco will always hold a very special place in my heart. She was with me through thick and thin I love seeing her when I go down to visit my parents. She gets so excited to see me that her tail and butt wiggle so hard that you better not be standing close by because you’ll get whipped! I sure do miss my Coco Bean!
