I spent part of my birthday in Brindisi, Italy and part in Rome.

Journaling: I knew my 19th birthday would be one I’d never forget – and not just because of where I was. It started a day early with people from all over the globe, at a hostel in Brindisi, Italy. They couldn’t let my b-day pass without celebrating so they threw me a party in the courtyard, complete with pasta dinner and plenty of refreshments. The morning of my birthday we were off to Rome – which is memorable in its own right but as I wrote in my journal – “the best part of this trip by far is not the things I’ve seen but the people I’ve met and the stories we’ve shared.” So, technically I spent my 19th birthday in Rome, but the part I remember most is the people who celebrated with me – a day early – in a port town called Brindisi.
