I am wondering if the yellow and green is part of this lo or just a book you happened to lay the lo on? I love the cut out of the two characters and I love the handwriting. It goes so well with the anime theme. I may have done the half circle picture differently. Possibly a cleaner shape with a mat or anchor of some sort. For me, if I am going to use transparency, I am going to try and hide the seams if possible so with that I may have printed right onto the pp OR done the lo is such a way as to hide the seams. Great title! I love how you designed that!
Great layout - I love how you did the title. And it's fun to hear other people's stories of how they discovered anime - you did like me, through a "kids" show. (Oh, and we have about 50 billion Yu-Gi-Oh cards at our house)
For the anime section in my "Book of Me"...the story of how I actually became an anime fan.
The journaling reads (apologizes for the fact there's a lot of it!):
For the longest time, I swore I was never going to watch anime. People kept telling me that I'd probably like it--- since I like cartoons in general ---but I kept saying that it wasn't for me. I didn't understand why cartoons had to be so, well, violent and why the characters looked kinda funny with their big eyes and crazy hair.
Then I got bored one Saturday morning my Senior year in college. See, I had ballet at 8:30AM and I'd come home from class, eat breakfast, and watch TV before I started my homework. Problem was, there was nothing on. I'd flip through the channels only to discover there were no Saturday morning cartoons (sue me, I still LOVE cartoons even now) that were enjoyable.
Until I came across this odd show called "Yu-Gi-Oh!" It was during the "Waking the Dragons" (a/k/a the "Doma") arc. Now, I like dragons so I figured I'd just check the show out.
I didn't entirely understand why the characters were playing this evil card game but the story still seemed interesting to me. The monsters, and there were many, were wicked cool. The dragons, well, they were just awesome. I found myself watching the show not only on Saturday mornings but during the week as well.
Then I went and discovered that "Yu-Gi-Oh!" wasn't just an anime!
One day, my sister and I were in the bookstore after classes and I wandered into the sci-fi/fantasy section. Across from it were these comic books, I guess you could call them that. I'd always liked comic books so I gave them a good once over looking for a title I recognized.
Lo and behold, I find "Yu-Gi-Oh!" sitting on the shelf. It read a bit funny, since it was "backwards" by normal conventions but it was awesome.
Once I read through all the "Yu-Gi-Oh!" manga, as I found out the funny little comic books were called, I could get my hands on, I started looking for other series to read. These manga were just more interesting than American comic books. The way they were drawn and the stories were just different and that meant interesting.
That was when I discovered a manga called "Fullmetal Alchemist" and the anime that went along with it....find "FMA" led to discovering another anime...which led to discovering another manga...and so on and so on.
One convetion and a bunch of new manga and anime later...here I sit with my sister CONVINCED I'm...
