Always looking for ways to store thing, I like the wine holder idea for pens, I just may have to start looking for one of them.. I have a paper rack from a scrapbook store, I just love that.. Thanks
I use my ZIGs all the time but because the case is so bulky I have to keep them in a drawer. This way I could keep them within reach. Great idea! Let the searching begin!
Sometimes splurging just a little to get exactly what you want makes all the difference. Now, if I just could convince my dh of that.... And great choices by the way.
The wine rack is the coolest idea! Thanks for sharing every detail, it's appreciated by those of us on the search for stuff to build our perfect scraproom!
Thanks for the detailed description...I can relate to your exhaustive search for a pen holder...I share the same feverish intent sometimes! Your place looks great and I love the pretty and functional uses of your pieces. Thanks for sharing the pictures, and also information on where to find them!
Pen storage. *sigh* Who hasn't tried a million different ways to store these? Well, I have! And someone here at Scrapbook.com (or a few people...) kept theirs in wine racks, so the pens could stay lying flat. I LOVED the idea, but I was VERY specific when I set out on my wine-rack-pen-holder quest. It took me over a year to find what I wanted, and when I did... I.WAS.ECSTATIC.
I *specifically* wanted a wicker one with silver metal. It didn't matter what color the wicker was because I could spray paint it (which I did... an Antique White). I finally found this one on eBay, after weeding through thousands of them (literally).
It was more than I wanted to spend on a "pen holder," (about $30, including shipping), but I had cut money corners in so many other ways in my room, that it was SO worth it for me. I LOVE it. One of my favorite things in my room.
I've had quite a few scrap rooms now, and one thing I knew I needed when I had been scrapping a while is a place to put papers while I'm working. The paper storage next to the pens are where I put papers I'm working on at any given moment. (Out of the way until I need them on the page.)
You know... you're working on a page, and you have like a whole handful of coordinating papers to choose from. You choose three... or seven, but you can't use them/trim them/glue them at the same time, so you need *somewhere* to put them that's away from your workspace, but still in arm's reach when you *do* need them. That's why I needed this. Plus, it's a place to put aside a project if your eyes need a break from it and you want (or need) to work on something else.
It's from The Container Store. And though it's more expensive than one of the ones from Michaels or Jo-Ann, it has SIX shelves instead of four or five and still takes up the same amount of space. That was worth the extra money to me. :)
