It's still a neat effect, even if what you wanted it to do didn't work. :) I think I'd just buy the crackle - that way I know it would work like it was supposed too
I wanted pink paint to show through the black paint on chipboard music notes that I have. I tried it on this flower first, thankfully, because it's not what I want. I can use this flower now because it will fit, but I don't want my music notes to have white showing through more than the pink like this. (The picture actually shows more pink than real life.)
What I did was took advice from my LSS worker of a technique she saw: instead of spending lots of money on crackle paint, buy elmer's glue. She said, with a disclaimer that she hadn't tried it, to put one color of paint down, then elmer's glue, while the glue is drying put the top color of paint on and the video on youtube she watched showed a great crackle effect. It didn't work on mine, so I tried sanding it and this is what I got.
