Virginia's Eastern Shore

It's official -- I'm finished scrapping our '06 Virginia vacation! Woo Hooooo!! I don't know why it seemed to take forever -- it only came out to 25 pages. That's nothing, considering my last Disney album is 104 pages!! Whatever, I'm glad to be finished!

This one is for Scrap Your Vacations Week 3. We had to include stamping on the LO. The twist was to use any kind of embossing. I stamped the swirls and the flowers in the bottom left corner. I also stamped and heat embossed the journaling box around the quote in the upper right for the twist.

Quote: "Heaven and earth never agreed better to frame a place for man's habitation." -Captain John Smith, 1608. I knew I wanted to use that quote on the page and was going to print it on vellum, but the brochure I tore the map out of had it printed over a sunset on the cover. The colors were so beautiful, I wanted to use it. I found a stamp that would fit around it so I cut it out after it was stamped and embossed.

This is also for the Use Your Scraps Challenge -- everything except the bg pp is scrap: all the pp's and the vellum; stuff torn from a brochure I was throwing away; and the journaling block and buttons from a package of stuff I've used before. This also satisfies the twist to have water in the LO.

Also, for the Febuly Challenge Week 20 - Time. Requirements: For this challenge you are to use something dealing with "Time." You can incorporate the word into your title or journaling, you can use a clock on your layout, or just the hand of the clock, include a visible date or just the year on your layout, or any other possibility. Hurry though, time is of the essence.
My rather dorky and embarrassing journaling says: Some bodies of water are like celebrities to me, thanks to James Michener! There's something about the way they unceasingly move through time, silent witnesses to history. The first time I saw the North Platte, 16 years ago, I almost cried. I was so moved by the feeling of being in the exact same place as the settlers traveling the Oregon Trail, the fur trappers before that, and the Native Americans before that. The Chesapeake Bay holds that same mystique for me. My personal goal for this trip was to see it from the Eastern Shore.
