Description: Since my Dad passed away earlier this month, I realized there was so much I wish I could have told him. Since I didn't get that chance, I decided to scrap it.
Journaling says:
Dad,
There is so much I wish I could have told.
It was from you that I got my love of history. I always loved discussing history with you, no matter what the subject. I remember how often we would be watching the same program on the History Channel.
You encouraged us to get a good education and expected nothing less than doing our best. Though at the time I always thought that was perfect straight A’s, but have come to realize that you just wanted us to do our best. I hope you were proud of me when I graduated Magna Cum Laude from college with my B.A. in History. It was because of you that I worked so hard, to do my best and live up to my potential.
You tried to expose us to different types of culture: art, music, history, theater, dance. When I danced I always looked for you in the audience and wanted to show you all that I had learned through the year. I loved the carnations you would give Melinda and I after each recital. It made us feel loved and special.
I will always think of you when watching the Tigers. I was so happy that we got to take you to Comerica Park at least once. That was my favorite game. It meant so much to be there with you. I just wish we could have taken you to more games. I will miss hearing you complain about the relief pitching and the cheers when they won.
You were always the hardest one to shop for because you never complained. You would love anything we bought you. I will treasure those items now. It made me so happy to see you wearing the hats we bought on our various trips.
I loved learning to drive with you. You sat in the backseat, often asleep and just let me drive, trusting that I would make the right decisions and trusted my abilities. This taught me to make my own decisions.
You did the best you could. It wasn’t always easy, but we always were cared for and loved.
There is so much that I wish I could have told you, but most of all I just wish I had told you once more that I LOVE YOU
