Description: A week ago
I took pics of our
newest wildlife baby,
this tiny little fawn,
with her mama.
This morning I heard a raucous bunch
of noisy crows out in the trees across the field.
I thought there must
be a deer dying out there. Dying, not dead, because the turkey vultures were not around yet.
Then I saw the crows
swooping over into a tree by the big pond
across our fence.
I went out to look
and saw mama deer standing by that tree valiantly trying to keep
the crows away from
her little one.
She even charged down
into the pond when
she saw me -
warning me to stay away.
We went to check it out,
and there was that
tiny fawn, already gone
for many hours. Mama deer stayed
close by all day long.
She walked around &
around the pond & the fawn,
not understanding. She was so
