This was done as a journaling challenge about "One Wonderful Thing" that happened to us that year:
Journaling:
2006 was not a banner year. There were no births, no graduations, no marriages. No heroic accomplishments were achieved and no huge goals were realized. When considering what "one wonderful thing" happened in my life in 2006, nothing stood out. Realistically, there are only a dozen or so red-letter days in a lifetime. But then I realized that living happens between the highlights. The fact that, for me, none of those ultra-special days occurred in 2006 does not mean it was a bad year or a year of wasted time. The one wonderful thing that happened to me in 2006 was that nothing note-worthy happened. It was wonderful in its normal-ness. When I look back, I will remember it as a year when life was good and that this good life was what we considered "normal". God blessed my family with enough to eat, a home that kept us warm when it was cold outside and dry when it was raining. We had happiness, safety and good health. We were able to enjoy the company of family and good friends. I was blessed to have a husband who loves me, and children I am very proud of. But more importantly, through it all we were together, in heart if not in distance. God has truly blessed us beyond what we deserve.
