For the SEW IT UP challenge that Christy (Cbshai) is holding at Swirlydoos…

As the mother of three boys, I used to drool over all of the pretty dresses that I would pass on my way into the corner that held the boys' clothes. Now that I'm the proud grandmother of a girl, I'm taking advantage of the opportunity to do more than drool!!!!
My DIL and I spent several hours at the mall one Friday a few weeks before Easter. Part of the time involved dinner and a portrait with the Easter Bunny; the rest of the evening was devoted to finding a dress. Somehow, all of the pretty dresses that I saw 30 odd years ago no longer existed. Finally, we went into Macy's and there it was: the perfect pretty dress for me to buy for Sophia!!!!!

This challenge is a two-parter: it must contain some sort of stitching (real or faux) and at least one handmade item.
I decided to use the dress pattern as my inspiration and sewed a diamond pattern and made the ribbon rosebuds to match the bodice.
I have posted a tutorial for the ribbon rosebuds in the Tips forum at ***Swirlydoos***.

The pp is from the Swirlydoos April Park Avenue kit; the ribbon and alphas are from my stash. The frame and the butterfly cuts were made with the Cricut Home Accents and Mother's Day cartridges.
