The story behind my two sons' names
Journaling reads: When we were engaged, Brett and I talked a little bit about names we would like for our future children. I can’t even remember why he suggested these two names initially, but he really liked Sean and Ian for boys’ names. I liked those names immediately, so we pretty much settled on them as names we would use if we were ever to have any sons. It was only later, when I looked those names up on a baby naming Web site, that I learned that they were both derivations of the name John, meaning “God is gracious” or “Gift from God.” Sean is the Scottish version of John, and Ian is the Irish version. So, learning that only made me like the names more. And, as it turned out, our two first children were boys, so we got to use our favorite boys’ names. We have our two little Johns. And, their middle names are Aaron and Ammon, two brothers from the Book of Mormon. I know how important sibling relationships can be, and I hope that these two boys will grow up to be the best of friends and that they will be able to rely on each other during life’s tough times. After all, it seems like they were really meant to be together.
