So sorry for your loss. This is a beautiful tribute. I have a schizophrenic brother and his life was spent mostly in an institution. They truly are trapped in their own minds. RIP
So sorry for the loss of your beautiful sister. Starry Starry Night - it's a perfect title. The symbolic meanings - the cage, the blue, the butterfly, and the self portrait - they all work to make this layout even more special. My son-in-law struggles with schizophrenia, so I have a small idea of what your family went through with your sister's illness. May she rest in peace.
OH MY! this is sooo incredibly beautiful! I am so sorry for your family's loss...I am a mental health nurse...so i know this pain only too well! Mental Illness is every bit as painful as physical illness...maybe worse! This is really an AMAZING tribute to your beautiful sister!
I am speechless...not only at the beauty of this lo but also at how well your story is represented in this lo...goosebumps galore! This is truly "art from the heart". I am so sorry about your sister..she was obviously very artistic if I have to judge by that picture she drew.:)
Wow. Thank you so much for sharing the story behind the layout. It is a great work of art on its own, but having the narrative behind it makes it truly memorable. My sister also suffers from mental illness and she could have died many times. She is still here on Earth, and doing okay with medication, but I am well aware that her demons can return and she could reach an awful end. It is what the family of the mentally ill lives with. I'm sorry your sister left, but I'm sure it was the only thing she thought she could do. And yes, there is some comfort in the thought that maybe finally the torment for her is over and she is somewhere at peace.
I am truly sorry to hear about your sister. You have taken great steps to represent her story and you have done it beautifully. What a magnificent tribute. TFS!
What a heartfelt page...you did an amazing job documenting her with this page. This layout is extra unique b/c of the story behind it. Fantastic work...
What a beautiful page full of unhappy times. But again so beautiful your sister was and I understand why you chose that song. Fly free little butterfly.
I can't help but get a little teary-eyed while I read about your sister. I am so sorry about her circumstances, but I want to thank you for sharing her story. This is an AMAZING, BEAUTIFUL tribute to your sister. I can see all the love and thought that went into this magnificent page! Fave!
I'm sorry to hear about your sister's illness and death. She was very beautiful, and so was her drawing. Your layout is gorgeous, and I'm sure she would have loved it.
Wow Rachelle - this is so heartfelt and goes right to the centre of all that sadness and grief and loss. It is truly beautiful and reflects all that was beautiful about your sister. Clearly your loss is still painful, and I am so sorry for your grieving. As you state, she is free now, and that is a comfort. Stunning representation.
wow this is wonderful on so many levels. An incredible tribute to the torture of the soul. I have a brother with the same challenge so can understand your pain. Such a beautiful poignant tribute. Hugs, Jeni
Again your work is extremely detailed, so much love put into the lo. The color tones are amazing as well as the embellishments. I love the butterfly and all the lace....condolence to you and your family..
Looking at your stunning LO and reading the touching story behind the LO, i have to thank God the we have such a creative outlet - thanks for sharing and condolence to you and your family.
This is the most amazing layout I have seen to date. Truely a work of art. The photo she drew shows how talented she was. My deepest condolence to you and your family.
Memorial pages are the most special. I feel for your loss and thank you for sharing that with all of us. Perhaps your inspiring LO will be what touches someone else this tragic illness affects as well. I love your LOs. One can tell you put your heart into all that you do. This is a very stunning page. Love it all.
An amazing and profoundly touching tribute to your sister, Rachelle. My heart goes out to you and your family. This lo is simply breathtaking, and the symbolism and meaning behind every element is astonishing. Thank you for sharing. This piece of art is truly an inspiration :)
Such a beautiful LO for such a tragic story. I admire your creativity here and the courage it must have taken to make this lovely tribute to your sister.... I really like the birdcage idea.... it's symbolism made me cry. Very powerful work!
this is a lo I have to explain to you, and because I havea typist here, Renee, I can explain this. My sister Joanne was diagnosed schizophrenic at the age of 18 and she is exactly one year younger than me. My first title for this lo was going to be "Trapped in my Mind", that is why I did the bird cages. The drawn photo is one she did of herself. I changed my title because of the song we chose when she took her life, so I used the title "starry starry night" by Don McLean. The butterfly represents that she is free from all of her pain, the tear drops are from the loves ones, especially my mom and dad, and the blue comes from one of the verses in the song. TFL
