Hidden Journaling: (Written By Darling David)
How many things are there today that to us are considered normal, commonplace, part of life as we know it? Cars, planes, television, cell phones, IPODS, DVD players, PS3, LCD, PSP… all these words mean little to the average American 10 year old because they are everyday items. Now what if these things were still a huge surprise to you because you grew up in a day when none of these things existed? My grandmother celebrated her 92nd birthday in August of 2010. That means she was born in 1918... anyone else a little stunned by that number? Basically, my grandmother saw each and every one of the things we call normal come out for the first time. EVERYTHING we know was unveiled to her first. We all maybe joke about bread for a nickel, gas at ten cents per gallon… she lived those prices! I am so lucky that time has yet to take it's toll on to her mind so she can relate stories of her youth and pass on the wisdom her life has given her. We should respect our elders not because of their age but because of their wisdom, and make it a point to grasp onto any of it they can give us. It may be hard to believe but at 92 my grandmother can still give her 38 yr. old grandson advice worth listening to.
