Piecing the Blocks

1.Use the quilt photo as a guide and match a background arch with a quarter circle. Fold both pieces in half along the curved edge to find the center. Finger press. Match the curves at the center and the ends. Sew the curved seam and press towards the arch. This will make a 4 1/2" square.
2.Continue to make the squares in this manner until you have used all the background arches and quarter circles. There are ninety-six 4 1/2" x 4 1/2" pieced squares in this quilt.
Assembling the Quilt

1.Using the photo as a guide, arrange the blocks in 12 rows with eight blocks in each row.
2.Sew the rows together and press the seams to one side.
3.Sew the rows together to make the center of the quilt. Press.
4.Sew the five 1 1/2" x WOF strips of soft gold solid into one long strip. From this strip cut two 48 1/2" x 1 1/2" and two 34 1/2" x 1 1/2".
5.Sew the two 48 1/2" x 1 1/2" strips to the long sides of the quilt center. Press.
6.Sew the two 34 1/2" x 1 1/2" strips to the top and bottom of the quilt center. Press.
7.Sew the five 4 1/2" x WOF strips of JM31 peach into one long strip. From this strip, cut two 4 1/2" x 50 1/2" and two 4 1/2" x 42 1/2".
8.Sew the two 50 1/2" x 4 1/2" strips to the long sides of the quilt center. Press.
9.Sew the two 42 1/2" x 4 1/2" strips to the top and bottom of the quilt center. Press.
Finishing

1.Sew the two 1 1/2 yd pieces together along the selvedge edge to make the backing.
2.Layer the backing, batting and quilt top. Quilt by hand or machine, as desired.
3.Sew the binding strips together to form one long strip. Fold the binding in half, lengthwise, with wrong sides together and press. Sew the raw edges of the binding to the edges of the right side of the quilt. Turn the folded edge of the binding to the back side of the quilt and stitch in place by hand, mitering the corners.
