I was recently looking for a photo of an old cottage that I have misplaced when I came across this postcard that my mother sent to me not long before she passed away. It has been tucked away in a box for over 30 years, so I thought that perhaps I should give it a new home and scrap it. It is a photo of the Jean Colville Private Hospital/hostel in Sydney, where she spent the last couple of months of her life. Cancer patients from the country, needing radio therapy treatment, support and counselling, where able to stay here and be transported to their various appointments.
On the back of the postcard is the last letter that I received from her. I copied the photo and then slipped the original in behind so it can be pulled out. My mother's room was at the back of the hostel overlooking Rushcutters Bay. It was a lovely old building with a very pleasant outlook and she loved the view from her window. Reading the letter again after all these years bought tears to my eyes. It has been a long time now but I still miss her just as much today as I did then.
Thankyou all so much for taking the time to have a peek and I would like to wish all you beautiful Mothers out there a very Happy Mothers Day :)
