This is a photo of my mom in 1940, and a photo of me in 1949. In each photo we are wearing mom’s fox stole.
My mom was the original ‘domestic goddess’ and her usual look was a ‘house dress’ and apron. She was always cooking, cleaning, and taking care of dad and my two sisters and me. To see her decked out in this outfit and looking so beautiful makes me realize there was another side to her.
The following is the journaling inside the little ‘book’………….. Dearest Mom, So much time has passed since I was toddling around wearing your fox; how I would pet it and giggle, and you would give me a great big smile. This photo shows me standing before your cedar chest, that gorgeous piece of furniture that housed your lovely trousseau. Well, 63 years later I proudly display it in my craft room where it holds many of my crafting supplies. It held your treasures…now mine. But the greatest treasure of all was you. How lucky was I to have had you in my life for 60 years. Time could never erase the cherished memories. Love always, ‘Your’ Linda
