I found a small envelope in some of my dad's photos after he passed. The envelope had been mailed to my great Aunt Bertha, by my dad, in 1941. It contained two small photos of my dad during his basic training circa 1940-41. My great Aunt Bertha had kept the envelope and photos and when she passed in the mid 1970's my dad must have retrieved them from her belongings. He kept them intact until 2007, still pristine in the original envelope. Now in my care, I scanned the items and used my copies on this layout. The originals are still safe in a little box. I love the original postmark and the little 1 1/2 cent stamp. And I love that no need for zip codes in 1941.
