I am SO loving this kit for July, the Marrakesh Express!! The colors are so fun and so vibrant! I only got the basic kit this time, but I had a blast finding bits and pieces from a LSS that went perfectly with the kit.
This is for the No Challenge Challenge for July as well as the July Sketch Challenge over at Scraps of Darkness.
When I saw this kit, the title 'You Color My World' just screamed at me and I set about trying to find the right photo to go with it. I ended up deciding on this one from our wedding (four years ago). It's one of my favorites of us! Originally I set up this LO with the photo in black and white - sort of a 'Pleasantville'-like vibe, but it just didn't look right. When I laid the color version over it, it just popped - so here it is!
I found the blue and gold 'Bollywood' ribbon, the little gold colored ribbon and the coin ribbon at a local store as well as the blue bead vines that I cut from a larger bunch. I inked the chipboard arch with copper ink and stickled the heck out of the page! (Love my Diamond Stickles!) For the wording, it took me a while to find the right letters to use, but I ended up going with the Maya Road chipboard letters. I altered the heck out of them too; first painting them with a white achrylic wash to make color stand out better. Then I painted over the white with the Glimmer Glaze. When that dried, I used a sponge and dabbed Worn Lipstick over it, then misted with the Glimmer Mists. When all that dried, I stickled over the letters. After that dried, I used the copper ink and lightly dabbed the letters so they weren't too shiny. All in all, I'm really happy with how they turned out and will probably frame this to hang in our house.
TFL!
