I love it! I went to a church much like this one, but not on a hill. There are still services there every week. You've inspired me to do a layout with it. When I was in NY last year, I took several photo's. Beautiful spot for a church, how sad there was a fire.
a real treasure. Interesting facts together with great photos make WONDERFUL heritage los. You've definitely got the knack for creating treasured keepsakes. TFS.
Another page for my heritage album. Here is what the journalling block says:
"This beautiful, peaceful, secluded hilltop is where the Langley Methodist Church once stood. It was built in 1894 and many Ashcraft family members attended this church and, indeed, several Ashcraft funerals were held there. All that remains are these concrete steps and a few foundation rocks as the church was destroyed in a fire and the congregation joined with the Marquette, KS Methodist Church."
My cousins in Langley had the old picture of the church and they also had the commemorative plate celebrating 70 years of the church - 1894-1864. He grew up in Langley, and said because the church was on a hilltop (and there aren't a whole lot of those in Kansas!) the steeple could be seen for miles and miles around. The glare in the bottom two pictures is not in the original photographs but from when I took picture of this page.
