Photo of my maternal grandparents taken around 1952. I used BG Curio collection for this layout. Lots of distress edges, tearing, and inking and I added a striped piece behind the torn edges. I used rubons in the upper corners of the pink layer. The striped layer has rounded corners at the top. The edges of the top layer were cut with deco scissors. All flowers were hand-cut from a piece of the Curio paper. I embossed the back of some of the flowers with a stylus to give the flowers a raised look. The lacy border across the bottom was cut with a Spellbinder die. I added a pink bling to each scallop. The title work was cut on the Silhouette. I used two pieces of the green to make photo corners that were punched with a corner punch. A touch of glitter was added to each of the petals on the flowers and a few 3-D dots to the centers. I also added three graduated sized buttons (with stitched centers) on the top mat as well as a little faux stitching. The lacy border was actually cut from white paper and then stained with brown ink. The leaves in the flowers were cut using a Spellbinder die, embossed fro dimension, and pop dotted amid the blooms. Journaling is tucked behind the striped mat and reads:

These are my Mama’s parents, William and Ola Pace. I don’t remember too much about them because they were both gone before I was five years old. I have a cousin who has researched the history of the Pace family and my grandfather (William Pace) is a descendent of Richard Pace who received a land patent in 1620 and established Pace’s Paines Plantation which was across the James River from the settlement of Jamestown. It appears that my family has deep roots in America.
