So, I'm sitting here at my desk. What to do? Work? It's Christmas Eve Eve, I don't think so! So I decided to challenge myself to make a little notebook, using ONLY whatever was IN REACH of me, at my desk. If I could reach it, I could use it: Here's what I used! For the 'base,' I cut a manila file folder into a rectangle small enough that my stapler could reach to the middle to 'bind' the pages into it - I had blank copy paper in my file drawer, which I cut into rectangles and then stapled in the center, making the blank book. On the front of the cover: I made some 'paper tape' by sticking a length of clear tape onto some legal pad paper, and cutting the stip off. The '$1' part of an issue of JUST BUSTED (the Mugshot magazine of OKC! - gotta keep up on the news!) Also, bit of a map of Chicago that I had in my drawer - which I 'distresed' by wrinkling up and scribbling on with a pencil and a brown colored pencil. I spit on it and rubbed my spit in, to finish the 'antiquing.' Also, there's a bit of an old theatre ticket stub, part of a SIGN & DATE post-it flag, a strip of 'FROM THE DESK OF' notepad paper- AND to 'EMBELLISH' the hole thing, I made a spiral out of paper clip, and found some Mardi Gras beads in another drawer, which I 'painted' with Liquid Paper and Black Sharpie. To keep my book closed, I used a binder clip. On the inside is another paper-clip bent into a spiral- making a...um...spiral clip, and a post-it on which I've written one of my favorite Christmas quotes: "Ladies and gentlemen....sometimes....I feel just like Mary's donkey."
All in all, a perfect way to spend the morning.
