I created this layout for my dad. The compass/star behind the photo pulls up to reveal hidden journaling, which says:
“January 31, 2012
“I wanted to order some scrapbooking items from a Canadian site, but I do not have Paypal. So I e-mailed dad with my order and asked him to place the order and pay with Paypal, and I'd pay him back in cash. Mom added to the order. Dad wrote me back this message, entitled “Order Update,” placing this order with me, in exchange. (He sent the photos too.)
“1 Ferrari [Enzo], like this
“1 Porsche Carrera
“1 Lamborghini Countach, like this
“1 33 Ford Street Rod, like this
“1 Locus Plethore (The Canadian Supercar), like this
“Let me know when they are ready for pick-up.
“Always the comedian....”
I used my Cricut Essential cartridge for the compass/star. I extended the brick by hand with MS markers. The key is hanging on a chain made from a stamp from "Mississippi Queen," Sharon, and it's covered with MS glitter. I stitched around the outside in two strips of black with yellow between it, which symbolizes a road surface. Also, the square stone reminded me of broken asphalt.
I hope my dad likes his surprise!

"I'll get right on that order, dad!" LOL - You have some wonderful elements here to accent that sense of humor. Love the stitching and the misting. But I really dig the bricks of gold. Love the symbolism you have created. You are such fun!
