How sad to lose your mother at such a tender age. Fascinating details-fitting in the puzzle pieces of the past. I'm interested in the designs on the aunt's outfit...
Wonderful heritage layout! I love the details in the photo, the flag, their clothing, the military man and the book!! It looks like your grandmother has a bow toward the back of her hair:) The chairs look like an interesting piece of history as well!
Wow...this is an absolutely beautiful heritage page. The photo is a real treasure and the story is wonderful...if only they wrote on the back of these photo's. I love all your details, the photo corners, little jigsaw pieces and you crotched flowers are lovely. Love it and straight off to my faves!!
wow, that really is a great Heritage lo...love every little piece of it :) Wondering about the Aussie flag, and yes the stars aren't placed quite right. Very interesting pic :)
My grandmother is the young girl in the front row....her mother had died when she was 12, and went to live with her Mother's sister Mary jane Whan. This photo is of Henry Swann and his family, Mary Jane and Helena. Mary Jane married Henry in 1906, aged 42 years, her first marriage. The young lad in the photo in army uniform is Frank Murray Swann, he died in action May 1915, which helped confirm the date the picture was taken. I found this photo just before Australia Day (26th January) and was struck by the picture taken in front of the Australian flag (which appears to be hand sewn and the stars in not quite the right position). The other fascinating things about this photo shoot is the little bowl of flowers at Mary Jane's feet and her holding a book with fingers marking a page in the book! Used new Scrap FX Whimsy corner and timepieces, and wordlet: a piece of history, I crocheted the flowers myself.
