I just talked to someone who visited the new exhibition in Ireland - the reports are that it is absolutely awesome - you have to go if you get the chance! Fabulous lo and great story!
So creative and unique! I just love that you made that necklace, and the story behind your layout was a fun read. My DH and I watched that movie together when it came out on DVD and loved it-so romantic!
oh golly such a very impressive and memorable creation, luved this movie so much, and luv your details, and punching tfs the interesting story behind your very adorable page....xo
PS: The little pearls on the edges of the center panel actually appeared to me as bubbles at first, which on second look I can see that they're not. But they could be.... I like thinking that they are anyway!
Laura - this is WONDERFUL!!! I am a *huge* fan of that movie - went to see it something like 19 times when it first came out. I love the texture of that sticker and the way you arranged everything on the layout is perfect. You have totally captured the elegance of the Titanic with the gates and the chandelier. I love the Heart of the Ocean necklace too.
I saw the Titanic Exhibit in Atlantic City a while back and was absolutely blown away by the huge slab of ice that you could touch to feel what it was like to be in that water. GREAT job, once again!
Gorgeous page. A great great movie. There is a billionaire who is wanting to rebuild the Titanic, I heard on Tv today and sail it about by the year 2014.
Awww, you and your man are such a romantic couple Laura! What a sweet story and beautiful keepsake you've created here! Love the chandelier design, perfect for the subject of the page! total fave! xx
love this, Laura! I've always been fascinated with the story of the Titanic and love the way you've captured the essence of the movie here! Those gates are gorgeous and perfect here, and I love the chandelier...the sticker is a great touch!
This layout is awesome on so many levels! I LOVE that you made the Heart of the Ocean. My husband made fun of that same scene too. Sigh. Boys! Can't live with 'em... LOL
Awe, what a sweet and sentimental story. Very pretty "heart of the ocean" necklace, bling, pearls and chandelier. I like the symbolism with the gates and that you used the ticket stub & coupon on the LO. Great distressing technique, papers and embells too. FAVES
Lots of symbolism on this layout, especially that strip of watery blue paper that runs almost down the middle vertically....that's kind of chilling.....however, I don't mean that in a bad way, it's just very true, isn't it? All of your touches are perfect, and that's wonderful that you found a place for the sticker from your husband, it is perfectly placed along with the gate and chandelier! Beautiful work!!
Okay, this was the layout I expected to do some journaling on. Well, yet again I have managed to change my mind because there seemed to be "no room for it." Ah!
This layout is special to me, because my husband and I watched the movie together back in the day (1997, I believe). He made fun of the scene depicted on the sticker I used on this layout. Later, he felt bad for ruining what I at the time thought was a beautiful scene. So a few weeks later, when he saw this sticker, he bought it for me. I held onto it, not scrapping at the time and not knowing exactly what to do with it, although I thought it was a sweet and romantic gesture. I kept it in my nightstand. He also took me to see the Titanic exhibit at Canada's Wonderland in 1998 and bought me the movie on laser disc (yes, I said laser disc). Well, this year I went to see the 3D version of the movie with a friend for the 100-year anniversary of Titanic. So I put the movie ticket from the 3D version on this layout too. And suddenly I knew exactly what to do with my special sticker from many years ago!
I made the "heart of the ocean" necklace, of course, to go with the theme. The gates were cut on my mom's Cricut and given to me, because although not identical, they had the elegance of the doors on the Titanic and reminded me of the elevator gates. I dressed up the chandelier with Stickles, a rhinestone, and one Swarovski crystal. I used a lot of glitter, some pearls, and lots of rhinestones to denote the opulence of the awesome ship in its day.
Thanks to my mom ("Quick Silver") for the gates and Katie ("KDQ") for the idea to use them on this layout.
