Created for the June 2012 SGC Challenge hosted by Jackie (Jax)… We were challenged indeed: to use components from past kits, to use multi medium...
I've done this as a canvas, inspired by Lynne Forsythe’s torn paper technique and a canvas class that I took a while back hosted by Peggy Forma at my LSS using pompoms and book pages.
I covered the canvas with several shades of acrylic paint, more or less crisscrossing like Lynne did in her video. When the paint was dry, I stamped all over with a background stamp and archival ink, with special attention to the borders. I then gritted my teeth and tore my (previously selected) pp and adhered it onto the canvas with matte medium. (I used the Golden brand: far more soupy and therefore slower to dry, giving me a chance to play with the paper placement.) Next, I misted two sheets of paper towel with water, rolled them up and dried them thoroughly with my heat tool. When they were totally dry, I trimmed them to get the lengths I wanted (the two shorter stems are from one sheet) and adhered them with my glue gun. I painted the "stems" with another shade of acrylic paint and when they were dry, attached the daisies and centers. The butterfly was fussy cut, slathered in several coats of matte medium to give it body and attached to the canvas with foam adhesive.
I used products from the following kits:
(March 2010) Butterfly Whispers
(January 2011) Fairy Flora (Spotlight Kit)
(April 2011) Bella Volo
(September 2011) Rendezvous
(March 2012) French Quarter
