This is for the July Monochrome challenge -- Watermelon (red).
Nina couldn’t sleep one night, and she called me into her room at about 10:30pm in tears. She asked me to get into bed with her. When I lay down, I felt all this soft, warm stuff. I said, “Nina, what is this?” and she just went quiet. Turned on the light to see that she had completely disemboweled her Ladybug pillow pet. I shook the now Flat Ladybug it in front of her and said, “Nina, is this how you treat your friends?” then made her clean up all the fluff. After I decided this didn’t mean she was going to become a serial killer (the thought crossed my mind – too many Criminal Minds episodes!), I could not stop laughing. We still have Flat Ladybug, but Nina just keeps her “safe on the shelf”.
I did the twist (plaid patterns), but barely! A few of the scalloped circles are red and white plaid.
This was my first time working with chalk. I chalked up the black CS with a wine cork and red chalk that I bought at an LSS garage sale last week -- a pack of like 16 colors for $1.50! I had fun with that.
Sketch: Loosely based on a sketch that I downloaded on my iPad. I don't know the source, but the circle background was the main thing I lifted.
