Adore this and can't believe I missed it! my own Mum came to the USA in '58 (at 23, without her folks) and wore "dungarees" for the first time...feeling so naughty! Love your story! Isn't it wonderful to have these stories?!!!
Vicki, this is gorgeous! It's so bright and happy and fun; you did really well with the bold paper. Love the handmade flowers and the photos are priceless. It's going in my faves,
I love the red, white and blue color theme! It's very festive and fun! I'm sure your grandma was a rebel too! Wearing pants in the 50's was considered pretty radical for girls to do. Yeah, my kind of grandma!!! Again, I love the hand made flowers, they came out just lovely!!!
Oh wow, that photo is priceless! The pps really match up well with the theme and your flowers are always awesome Vickie! Luv the doodling - way cool page!
Its wonderful........I started High School in 1953 and yes.....jeans were not yet well accepted!!!!! We could NOT wear them to school....LOL I love this, your page is perfect in every way, and your story is too! Great job....!!!!
What a wonderful time period project. I don't think it's too busy at all - and I think, based on the fact that she was a daughter of immigrants, that there is no way you went overboard on the RW&B. I'm sure you're right about the jeans thing. It WAS 1952 after all. Love your project.
I love the turned up jeans;great photos and as they are black & white I don't think this is too busy at all. the flowers are cute & great title. fabulous LO!
How great is this? Definitely brought a smile to my face because it's just downright happy with a fun story too! Love your flowers and you always come up with the best titles.
Very Cute! I love the history you shared-- hope you wrote it on the back or in hidden journaling for future generations! I think the story is so important! Love the flowers!
Pretty cool lo!! Love the floral, vine and flourish clusters on opposite corners...makes a great frame for the awesome photo!! The RW&B is excellent...it cannot be overdone!!!
100% Cheerful and wonderful page!!! Your corner florals and flourishes are beautifully done, they frame those fabulous photos perfectly!!!! Loved reading about the blue jeans! A great memory!!
You look like her, Vickie! I love those photos so much! I love the story behind them!!!!! I bet she did have to beg to wear that very cool outfit!!!!! LOL! And I don't think your page looks too busy! I love how you showcased the red-white-blue theme here! It is very fitting with the photos!!!! TFS!!!!!
How cute, looking like they're going into high school for a sock hop! Geez, Vickie, I was BORN in 1952 and never had jeans until 11th grade and girls couldn't wear pants to school until 12th grade! Your mom was RADICAL! lol
1952 - my Mom and her BFF. My Grandparents were born in Italy and came to America with their "old world" traditions. Knowing the family history and remembering some stories, I am sure my Mom had to BEG to wear jeans and that letterman's jacket (which I would bet belonged to her older brother) This is my submission for the July Heritage challenge. In looking at it now - it seems that I went a little overboard with the red, white and blue (which was the twist) and the lo is a tad busy. I made some of the flowers and some are stickers from my stash. TFL - I truly appreciate all of your support and kindness.
