I will tell my BIL about the port. They were stationed there in the '70s and they said there was much there then. The birds are galah, a species of cockatoo. Also known as a the rosy breasted cockatoo. How fun!
wonderful colours from the flag as your background and matting. What are the two birds on the bottom. Sorry the port was disappointing but I am guessing that happens from time to time when you cruise as much as you do - too bad it had to be your first view of Australia though
Sunday, November 6th, 2011 – Ausralia at last! I was excited to be in Australia but was very disappointed in the port of Exmouth. We took the tender to the shuttle to a little outdoor market. The market included one smoothie vendor, one woman selling homemade candles and about 5 people selling used clothes.
We walked a couple blocks to a hotel which offered internet service for $4.00 for 30 minutes. I only got about 10 minutes of actual time because the internet kept dropping and I had to sign back on at least 10 times. However, I was able to open 4 emails in 30 minutes and respond to them so it was better than no internet.
Bill kept track of his usable time on the computer and it came to 13 minutes. He opened a few emails but was not able to respond to any.
Then we walked a couple blocks to downtown Exmouth. Downtown was so small there wasn't even a traffic light or stop sign. Downtown consisted of an IGA supermarket and about 5 souvenir and/or diving shops. It seems there was a sandwich shop too.
Bill did pick a nice bunch of plumeria flowers for me and put them in water when we got back on the ship.
