Journaling:

This fall is shaping up to be a busy one around our house. My weekly Precept Bible study begins next week. Florida State football kicks off Saturday against Murray State. We’re celebrating Mama’s 85th birthday in October with an open house and out-of-town company. Ashley comes to stay with us in November for her two-month rotation at Florida Hospital, and we’re hosting the Hoenstine Family Thanksgiving at our house. Whew!

Why is it that when you have the time and inclination to go to the movies, there’s nothing playing that’s worth seeing. And when you’re busy, the theatres are full of good flicks. Go figure!

I hate change, and the older I get, the more I hate it. I had to make a big change this week: my doctor. Julia moved out of state, so I was forced to find a new doctor. Karen recommended her doctor, and I think I’m going to like Dr. Hitchcock.

What is it with old people and the weather? Have you ever noticed how much time old people spend talking about the weather? I can say this because I am now an old person, and I’ve started talking about the weather a lot more in my old age. One of the things I like best about my iPhone is that I have the weather forecast at my fingertips. I regale my husband with announcements about the probability percentage of rainfall and predicted temperatures. Sad, huh?

I volunteered at church today for the first time in well over a month. I did data entry and updated the attendance records. I also gave Shirley the Sunday School class directory that Rose and I have been working on for months. At times I thought it was the directory that would not die, and I’m glad for it to go to press. Our new water softener was installed, and it was an Amazon bonanza: phone battery, new book, and more page protectors. 08.29.12
