This is my elder daughter and her cat Bird. Beth got Bird from my friend Erica who was in vet school when this little orphan kitten - eyes barely opened - was brought into the school clinic. It had been found abandoned in an alley dumpster.
Erica took the kitten home to foster, which is where I met Bird. Beth had mentioned that she might like a second cat, so I called her and asked if she'd be interested in this darling little calico orphan, and and a few weeks later, she was Beth's.
The two of them hit it off, although it took a while for my other grand-kitty Nessie to be willing to share her human with a young interloper. But eventually Nessie came around and realized that in any house, two cats are better than one.
Today, Bird is a well loved, well adjusted cat with no evidence at all that she was, at one time, nothing more than a problem to be discarded with the rest of the trash.
I started to call this layout Kitten Honey, but then realized that the Kit "N" Honey play on words was better (my elder daughter really IS a honey), so I went with it.

I LOVE this layout. Love the textures, the honeycombs, oh shoot just everything. My daughter and I found one that someone dropped off at our gas station a couple weeks ago and her fiance fell in love with him.

This is awesome! I love your play on words in the title! My ds found a kitten probably no more than 4 weeks old in a dumpster when he was working for a trash co. He brought her home and my eldest son took her home with them. She disappeared, but not after giving them a batch of kittens with one that looked exactly like her.

Love both your design and Bird's story, Pat. So sad that people will discard animals like they are trash, but so wonderful that there are people like Erica and Beth to rescue them - love how you made the honeycombs - chicken wire?

I'm still hoarding all my hexagons and I love how you used them with chicken wire..great idea!! and beautiful photo and layout. Love your touching story..or Bird's touch story..grandma has a wonderful way with words. Are you a writer too...you should be.

It just makes me so mad when people leave kittens or any animal like that....at least take them to a shelter! This is such a sweet lo! Love that background pp and your bees look so life like!
