We were blessed to see the Cheetahs in Action - they reach speeds of upto 120km per hour (about 74 miles per hour) in a space of a few seconds. They can only keep this up for about 360 seconds, then have to rest for about an hour afterwards.
We got to see 2 cheetahs run at about 75 km /hour (46 miles). I almost missed the first one, it was kicking up so much sand! The second time round I knew what to look for. They use their tails like a rudder, and presses it into the ground to pivot around to run back.
Amazing creatures.
