This is a photo of my mom circa 1923. I think she was about six years old. My mom loved school and was an excellent student. She skipped 2 and a half grades and graduated from high school when she was 15 years old. Unfortunately, it was in the height of the Great Depression and college was out of the question. Her family needed her income. Her first job was working behind the cosmetics counter in a five and dime store, but she worked her way up to become a legal secretary for one of the partners in a large NYC maritime firm.

I scraplifted this design from a page created by Lynjea, and I thank her for the inspiration. Lynjea's page is entitled Rider.
