While Bill was walking around with Joe and Angie I couldn’t resist checking out some of the kiosks. One had beautiful abalone purses in 2 sizes but there were no prices and the vendor was away.
I told Bill about this beautiful purse and he wanted to see it. He also thought the purse was gorgeous! By now the lady had returned so Bill asked her for the price on the larger purse but when she showed us the tag inside I just said, “Nevermind!”
Later I was talking to friends we ran into at the Dole snack bar when Bill walked up and asked me if I told them about the purse. I told him there was no reason to tell them about something I wasn’t getting! Then I told them, “We found a gorgeous abalone shell purse but it is way out of our league! I have no idea why he brought it up.”
He said, “How do you know you aren’t getting it?” Turns out he talked to the vendor about selling license plates in exchange for the purse so I got the large abalone purse after all!
We went back the next day and dropped off license plates for her at the kiosk and we left with the purse. The vendor was thrilled because while my husband was unloading the license plates and she was putting them on the shelves a tourist walked up and bought one for 4 times what Bill had charged her for it and someone else was considering another.
Oh my gosh, my new purse is beautiful! A hundred times more beautiful that the picture!
Bonnie (sbartist) made 3 beautiful koi diecuts which I would have put on this page if it weren't already complete when she gave them to me. They would have been perfect! But this is from our trip in Jan-Feb and she gave them to me on our trip around July. Can't wait to use them though!
