Thursday night, May 17th, Julia Clifton arrived from Grand Isle, Louisiana, to spend about 10 days with Bill and me. There's not a whole lot to do in Ocala for 10 days and Julia had never been to Key West so we decided to take a road trip for a fun-in-the-sun week in the Florida Keys. The trip was not without a few stops on the way.

Friday was start of a weekend license plate convention in St. Petersburg which Bill wanted to attend so the plan was for Bill to enjoy hanging out with the other collectors and for Julia and me to drive downtown to the Whim-So-Doodle Scrapbook store, have lunch in the historic area and just enjoy the day – which we did.

That night Julia was tired and went to bed early so Bill and I went to Rosie's Clam Shack, one of our very favorite places for fried shrimp for me and whole bellied clams for him. They were as good as ever!

The sunset picture was taken from Mallory Square as the sun was setting over Key West. The picture to the right is me with the imfamous Catman of Key West and the picture to the left… well, we had to make an unscheduled stop in Key Largo to replace our radiator. Julia had never worked on cars before but she rolled up her sleeves and helped him get the old one out and the new one in. We had to order a new radiator which would not come in until the next morning so we got two rooms in a darling little motel. By the time the sun was up good Julia and Bill had the car purring and we were back on the road again.
