Found this very ugly old picture frame at the thrift shop. I had it in my hand, put it down, picked it up, carried it for a while, looked at it, thought it was ugly.... finally decided that it might be worth bringing home. It was gold all over with a burgundy velvet ribbon.
I pulled off the burgundy ribbon, and painted that area a dark grey, then on either side of the grey, I painted it black. The outside where all the detail is, is the same colour as my chair I redid earlier this month.
Now to find a family picture to put in it.

I love it! I too have been searching for old frames like this! I have several large ones in my loft that belonged to my great grandma I've been meaning to look at.
